Large Group vs. Step Study

Celebrate Recovery meets every Friday night and that time is made up of Large Group, Open Share Group and Fellowship at Café.

Step Studies meet one day a week, other than Friday nights, and work through the 4 participant guides as a group. It typically takes a year to complete all of the guides.

Characteristics of Large Group (7:00 PM – 8:00 PM):

  • Meets 52 weeks per year
  • 1 hour meeting
  • Worship Time
  • Reading of 12 Steps or 8 Principles
  • Special Music and Offering taken
  • Teaching / Testimony / Special Guest Speaker
  • No Obligation to share
  • Serenity Prayer close
  • Dismiss to Open Share Groups (optional)

Characteristics of Open Share Group (8:00 PM – 9:00 PM):

  • Recovery Issue Specific
  • Meets 52 weeks per year
  • Gender based
  • 55 minute meeting
  • Funnel individuals to Step Study Groups
  • Meeting Group Guidelines Facilitated
  • Leader’s Focus Question – open share
  • Acknowledge Sobriety with Sobriety Chips
  • Meet Accountability Partners
  • Find a Sponsor
  • Always open to Newcomers
  • At close, Invite members to ‘Rock Solid Café--Celebrate Recovery ® Resource Table is set up containing Life Recovery Bible, Participant Guides and Information Sheets
  • Anonymity and Confidentiality are Basic Requirements

Characteristics of Step Study Group (Alternate Night, Different times):

  • Mixed Recovery Issues
  • Gender based
  • 2 hour meeting
  • Celebrate Recovery ® Participant Guides (curriculum)
  • Utilize Life Recovery Bible
  • Meeting Group Guidelines Facilitated
  • Build Accountability teams, partners
  • Meeting closed to Newcomers by Step 4
  • Completion of the 12 Steps (1 Year, approx.)
  • Facilitators have completed a Step Study and are Trained
  • Held on alternate days / nights of the week
